Inauguration Day Tomorrow

Hi there-hope you are enjoying your weekend. We have a busy week ahead of us so here are some of the happenings. Tomorrow is Inauguration Day and we are hoping to watch a short bit of it tomorrow morning at 9:30 on CNN Live to see President Obama being sworn in. Also tomorrow we have our states & capitals test on the Midwest. Make sure you are studying the locations as well. Also, tomorrow is Martin Luther King Jr. Day and we will be doing lots of activities this week like reading a biography about him, creating a timeline, fact & opinion, compare/contrast, power points, etc. He was such an amazing person who lived such a short life. But with all the character education that we do and the work put forth to teaching about setting goals & BELIEVING in one's self and sticking up for what you believe, this is a perfect place in the curriculum to do this. So stay tuned for this week's activities. I am hoping to start Montana History at the end of the week, and if not this week, for sure the next. We continue our Lead 21 study of space. We will finish the non-fiction on Monday and then move into the realistic fiction portion working on figurative language, sequencing event, and cause/effect. We are finished with snowology other than some fraction activities which will come later when we get into that unit and also we are going to try and get our snow globes done at the end of the week. Speaking of end of the week, Venture Theater will perform for us on Friday. Can't wait to see our little stars on stage. Speaking of on stage-Friday was BUG Club/Terrific Kids/Bobcat Award Day. You can see by the pictures who made it and I hope to have more pictures for Quarter 3. Congratulations to this quarter's award winners. In Math this week, we will work on perimeter, area, and volume. On Tuesday, there will be a substitute. I will be in town doing some Common Core training to bring back to our wonderful Bitterroot Staff so please talk to your child about expectations. Remember to check out Rusty's Parent Page on his website. If you do, write Rusty in the planner for free money. Celebration: We have earned our 50th compliment point for the year and so that entitles this wonderful class to a celebration. We will have it on Thursday. More details to follow. Have a great rest of the day.
