Happy Thursday

HATS FOR HOPE TOMORROW!!! I forgot to remind the kids to bring their 50 cents and wear a hat all day tomorrow so please remind them. Thank you. Our day started this morning with morning meeting and Rusty talked about how being responsible creates more freedom. Kids talked about how being responsible for things at home leads to them being trusted and then they get more freedom. Then I made the connection to that here in school about how being responsible and making good choices leads to being able to do more things because they have more money to buy into them. Oh how wonderful these life lessons are!! In Social Studies, we started our Lewis & Clark Expedition. Ask your child how we get to follow the journey in our journals that they get to add to a map as we go that are pretty cool. Write it in the planner for free money. I am reading a book too about the expedition as we go and the kids are realizing that being on the journey was not real easy back then and how it would be different now. We are trying to look at it from the Native point of view as well as that of those chosen to go on the expedition. Geometry test: These kids rocked it and they all did a super job. Way to go, Team Hankins!! Next week, we start our study of fractions. Bananas About Reading: We had another great day today and our class alone is up to 5,560 minutes. Way to go and keep on reading. Remember to get our January calendars back with your month total of minutes added up as they are a large part of your reading grade. My reading kids make sure you are working vigorously on those biographies. Remember they are due on Tuesday, February 12th. Tomorrow for Team Building, we are going to do some fun SuperBowl activities. Come to school ready with your predictions about who you think is going to win!! Have a great night.

Not A lot Happening Today

BRRRRR-Yikes it is cold out there. Please make sure your kids are bundled up and ready for the weather tomorrow. Remember in MT it can change every 5 min. Today, was a pretty low-key day. Not a lot out of the ordinary happening. We took Part 1 of our Geometry math test and will finish it up tomorrow. No Montana History today as we had Library this morning & READABOUT this afternoon. Remember spelling test on Friday. My reading kids are continuing to learn how the geography & economy are connected in the Midwest region and also how the history & culture play a big part into it. Music today was the highlight as the kids are doing AWESOME on their recorders and got a compliment from Mr. Goodheart. Ask them what song they can play on the recorder and write it in the planner for free money. Tomorrow is PE so make sure you have tennis shoes. Keep up the great reading for our Bananas About Reading Contest. You are doing FABULOUS!! Have a great night.

What a fun day!!

What a fun day this has been celebrating 50 years of life. WOW!! One of the best parts about it was celebrating with these great kids. They so make coming to work everyday so enjoyable. We had some great learning take place today especially in Montana History. Ask them 3 things they have learned about this section: "The Westward Expansion/Lewis & Clark Expedition so far and write them in the planner for free money. In Math today they worked in partners reviewing for our big geometry test that starts tomorrow. My reading kids learned about the Homestead Act today. Ask them what it is and how it was good for the Midwest Region. We also started small groups again with their group readers. Lots of new information being soaked up. Bananas About Reading: Last night our class alone read 1,395 minutes. WOW TEAM HANKINS THAT IS AWESOME!! Keep it up. Tomorrow is Library so get those books back. Have a great night.

WE ARE GOING BANANAS!!

Today, we had our Read-A-Thon kickoff assembly with the theme: "Bananas About Reading". Students brought envelopes home to keep track of their reading on one side and their pledges on the other. Read over it tonight and make sure you initial their nightly minutes. They are to bring it back each day to be eligible for prizes. Also, they will get $50 each day they bring it back with minutes read and initials. If you go over this packet with your child tonight, write bananas in the planner for free money. Speaking of money, we spent our fake money today and are starting over with new money tomorrow. Kids loved it and got some fun stuff. In reading today, we read chapter 1 in the theme reader and it is about the Midwest which we already covered in Social Studies, but they love it and they are learning even more information about this area. I hope my reading kids are continuing to read their biographies and start working on your posters soon. Have a great night.

Happy Sunday!

Hope you are having a great weekend. First of all, I want to CONGRATULATE all our Venture Theater participants. It was a fabulous performance and they did an amazing job! It is always difficult to perform in front of our peers, but they took a risk and put on quite a show. I hope you were able to catch the night performance. Congratulations to Victor Scott, our Purple Hand cookie recipient. Victor was nominated by his peers for his kindness & leadership skills. Way to go, Victor!! This week is going to be another busy week. Here is a run down of what is coming. Reading: We are beginning Unit 5 in Lead 21. It is a reinforcement for our Midwest social studies unit. Skills we will be working on are main idea/detail, cause/effect, and synonyms & antonyms. Strategies will include summarizing & visualizing. Math: We will test out of our geometry unit on Wednesday and then start fractions. Social Studies: Montana History-Yippee-finally!!!! Science: Forms of Energy Language: Continuing with pronouns and we are going to work on writing dialogue. Spelling: Unit 21 words and suffixes. Tomorrow is our "Bananas About Reading" kickoff assembly at 1:30. Packets will be coming home for this tomorrow. Biography packets came home on Friday. Hopefully by now you have gone through it and seen the requirements. If your child wants to do anything above what is required that would be AWESOME!! Also, they are encouraged to go on-line and find other information than what is in the book they are reading. Remember these are due on February 12th. See picture below for an example of mine. I know it is hard to see, but hopefully gives you an idea. Shopping day tomorrow with extra fake money after buying in to the Valentine's Day Party. Students haven't bought into the party yet will not be allowed to shop. Then on Tuesday, they will start over with a new wallet and money. For those that have not paid into the party yet, whatever money they have will go towards their party buy in. We will be making a list of committees for our party next week so that will give you plenty of time to prepare for whatever your committee your child chooses to be on. Our committees we have are: decorating, food, entertainment, and clean up. We will making bags for Valentine's Day. Actually, I have a fun little activity that goes with it and your child will receive that and a bag from me and then they will decorate it at home. More on this as it approaches. Have a good rest of the weekend.

Happy Terrific Thursday!

HATS-HATS-HATS!!! Yes, everyone go and find your favorite hat you are going to wear tomorrow for "Hats For Hope". Remember for 50 cents you can help our families in need. Also tomorrow is Venture Theater Performance. I can wait to watch the stars from our classroom and Bitterroot shine on stage. Extra Money: Yes, those that could, bought in to the Valentine's Day Party today for $500. They will spend any extra money on stuff from Mrs. Hankins' store tomorrow. Those that didn't have enough to buy in today will keep their money and hopefully have enough by February 12th (last day to buy in.) Ask your child what their status on this was and write yes or no in the planner for free money. Also for those that have not bought in, discuss what needs to change or happen in order for them to earn money. Remember it is the same for all and there is no reason they shouldn't have enough money if they are making good choices. My reading kids will be bringing their biography requirements home tomorrow so be watching for them. The whole project is due on Tuesday, February 12th. That gave them 3 weeks from last Tuesday when they chose their book. Should be ample time to read and do a good job on the project. Today in Math, we had fun with perimeter and area. Ask them what they did and write P & A in the planner. Last but not least, we wrote about "Dreams" today for MLK. Ask them about their dream. We have some kids in here with high aspirations!! I LOVE it!! DREAM-BELIEVE-ACHIEVE!! Ask them to tell you about Mrs. Hankins' new dream starting to become a reality!!!
Have a great night.

Meeting Day Today

Today is staff meeting day so this will be a quick blog post. We sure enjoyed our movie today celebrating positive behavior. HMMMM-I wonder what we will do when we reach 75 compliments??!!! Hats for Hope: A pink note went home today about help out those less fortunate here at Bitterroot who are going through some tough times. Every Friday for the rest of January and all the Fridays in February, students will be able to wear a hat to school for 50 cents. Wow-how fun to wear a hat and to help others!! Win-Win situation for all involved. Also a Bananas about reading paper came home today. Our read-a-thon kick off assembly is on Monday, January 28th, but look over the note together and if you have any questions, mention them to your child and they can ask PTA at the assembly. It is pretty much like last year, other than the theme is BANANAS ABOUT READING!! Tomorrow I am going to collect $500 for the upcoming Valentine's Day Party which will be on Wednesday, February 13th as we have a break then from February 14-18. I will be posting a list of class names on the side of the blog for valentines. Any money students have left after paying for the party, will be able to use it to buy some stuff on Friday. If you didn't bring a figure for your snow globe, tomorrow is the last day to bring one. Have a great night.

Happy Tuesday

Today was filled with more learning about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his non-violent ways. We listened to a short book on YouTube called "Martin's Words" and then read a biography about him and his life. Then students had to create a timeline with what they learned. Tomorrow they are going to complete an activity sheet of questions using their timeline. Ask them what non-violent ways Dr. King used to help people and ask them one significant event in his life. If they can tell you, write MLK in the planner. My reading kids picked their biography books today. What they are to do now is start reading it and writing down important facts they find about their person on sticky notes or paper that they will use in their project. The packet for the project will be sent home on Friday. Tomorrow we are watching our space movie called "Fly to the Moon" for our celebration. Kids can bring a treat and a beverage (no larger than 20 oz.). Also, we are going to work on our snow globes the rest of this week and students now need to bring a small figure/figurine of whatever they choose to to put into their jar. They know that it doesn't have to be seasonal, but make sure it is something they don't want back as it will be epoxy glued onto the lid of the jar. Also, make sure it is not too big or it will not work. Remember library books tomorrow. Have a great night.

Monday, January 21, 2013

Today we started out our day by celebrating MLK Jr. Day by listening to and watching his famous "I Have a Dream Speech". Then while working on our states & capitals test, we tuned in live to CNN and got to watch President Obama be sworn into office for the Inauguration. Pretty cool as they realized they won't see it again until they are 8th graders. We are going to continue reading our biography about MLK Jr. tomorrow and taking events from his life and putting them into a timeline. My reading kids will be choosing their biography books to read for nightly independent reading tomorrow and they will be given a sheet of requirements for the project. I will be modeling it in here with a Helen Keller biography. More on that as it develops. Celebration Day will be on Wednesday. It is for earning their celebration points. We are watching the movie "Fly Me to the Moon" which is rated G. It is a great connection to our space unit that we are working on. Students can bring a pop & a treat. Friday is time to spend our fake money. We will be doing an auction to spend their money for this past quarter and then we will start next Monday again with $200. Today in Math we did symmetry. Have your child draw a polygon and draw in lines of symmetry in the planner for free money. Permission slips from Mrs. Buss came home today about the HIV video. Please read and sign and return to school by Thursday for free money. Thank you. Have a great night.

Inauguration Day Tomorrow

Hi there-hope you are enjoying your weekend. We have a busy week ahead of us so here are some of the happenings. Tomorrow is Inauguration Day and we are hoping to watch a short bit of it tomorrow morning at 9:30 on CNN Live to see President Obama being sworn in. Also tomorrow we have our states & capitals test on the Midwest. Make sure you are studying the locations as well. Also, tomorrow is Martin Luther King Jr. Day and we will be doing lots of activities this week like reading a biography about him, creating a timeline, fact & opinion, compare/contrast, power points, etc. He was such an amazing person who lived such a short life. But with all the character education that we do and the work put forth to teaching about setting goals & BELIEVING in one's self and sticking up for what you believe, this is a perfect place in the curriculum to do this. So stay tuned for this week's activities. I am hoping to start Montana History at the end of the week, and if not this week, for sure the next. We continue our Lead 21 study of space. We will finish the non-fiction on Monday and then move into the realistic fiction portion working on figurative language, sequencing event, and cause/effect. We are finished with snowology other than some fraction activities which will come later when we get into that unit and also we are going to try and get our snow globes done at the end of the week. Speaking of end of the week, Venture Theater will perform for us on Friday. Can't wait to see our little stars on stage. Speaking of on stage-Friday was BUG Club/Terrific Kids/Bobcat Award Day. You can see by the pictures who made it and I hope to have more pictures for Quarter 3. Congratulations to this quarter's award winners. In Math this week, we will work on perimeter, area, and volume. On Tuesday, there will be a substitute. I will be in town doing some Common Core training to bring back to our wonderful Bitterroot Staff so please talk to your child about expectations. Remember to check out Rusty's Parent Page on his website. If you do, write Rusty in the planner for free money. Celebration: We have earned our 50th compliment point for the year and so that entitles this wonderful class to a celebration. We will have it on Thursday. More details to follow. Have a great rest of the day.

Report Cards Today

Yes, report cards went home today for Quarter 2. These kids are amazing and did very well. But, as always there is room for improvement and hopefully they will bring their grades up 3rd quarter. Speaking of bringing grades up. We have what is called BUG Club. What this means is that students who brought up a grade or grades in any subject area is eligible for an award. But, if they brought 2 grades up, but 1 went down, they are not eligible. Hopefully, that makes sense. Another award given is Terrific Kids. This award goes to students that have straight A's. Another award that is being given out tomorrow is the Bobcat Award. This goes to the student that has worked hard all quarter, used good character, and shows lots of kindness and compassion to their peers. These awards will be given again in 3rd & 4th quarters. The awards assembly is tomorrow at 2:00 in the gym. If your child is getting an award, I texted you this afternoon. You don't have to come, but you are welcome to come. Please keep it a secret as I like it to be a surprise. Today in math we learned about circles. Ask your child to draw a circle and label the 4 parts we learned today. IF they can do it, write circle in the planner. Remember the states and capitals test is on Monday. I Remember tomorrow is Music so have those recorders here and if you are buying one and Mr. Goodheart is picking it up for you, have your money here. Have a good night.

Ideas Welcome

Hi there- Now that you have checked out Rusty's website and actually met him on-line, I would like for your feedback. This means that he/we would like to know what you like about the lessons and if you have any ideas for future lessons. I know there are many ideas you may have as a parent because raising children now a days in this crazy world is a huge job. He would love to have ideas for his show so if you have any ideas or comments please email them to me at: hankinsm@billingsschools.org and I will make sure I forward them to him. Thank you. Today we had fun in Math making polygons with Chinese jump ropes. Ask your child what we did and write the name of the one they thought was the hardest to form in the planner. Remember to keep practicing those Midwest states and capitals. Test is on Monday. For my reading kids, I would like you to have a conversation about our read-a-loud book Petey. Tell your parents your favorite part so far and why and if you do this, write Petey in the planner. Remember tennis shoes tomorrow as we have PE. Thank you to all of you for checking out the internet safety website that I posted last night. Good Job!! Have a great night.

Check It Out

I would like to have you check out Rusty's School Tools site. There has been a lot of parent interest in wanting to carry on the conversations that we have in the mornings to their nightly communication with their child. How cool is that. So what you do is go to: www.schooltoolstv.com and click on the parenting page. It will give you the daily lessons of what we are or have talked about in our morning meetings. I would love for you to do that and stay connected. Today started out with Special Agent Dan from the FBI here talking about Internet Safety. WOW! It is a pretty scary world right here in Billings. He asked the kids who has Facebook, Twitter, etc. accounts and some hands went up and then he asked who is 13 years old? Obviously no hands went up. By law, you have to be 13 years old to have one of these accounts. After hearing about cases right here in Billings involving predators, cyber bullying, illegal (naked) pictures and chat rooms, it was quite an eye opener for me. He showed how dangerous it is to put pictures or videos on these sites and how easy they are to access by these predators. He also shared with the kids that they can find kids through X-Box chat rooms. So I am asking you please to delete any internet chat programs that your child has. He also asked kids to go to a site called www.NetSmartz.org. It has movies and games they can use to learn more. Please check it out with your child. If you do, write NetSmartz in the planner for free money. Ask them what they thought about the talk and also how old was the oldest person he has caught. If they can tell you, write the age in the planner. On a lighter note, today we had fun in Science. We did Snowology. Students had to go around the school and gather facts about snow and report back to the class. Ask them which they thought was the most amazing and write it in the planner. Remember Library books tomorrow. Have a great night.

Friday Fun

Hope you are enjoying your weekend. Tough weekend for Bronco & Packer fans. Oh who to "root" for now? I am thinking the Seahawks!! We had a fun day on Friday playing in the snow. There were snow angels being made, playing fox & hound, and keep away with the kick ball. I am not a snow lover, but can honestly say it was fun. Buddies consisted of making graphs which was great for us as a review because we did that before the long break. Ask your child what we graphed and write it in the planner. Snowmen at Night stories are now being published. Pretty fun and creative. I will take pics of them with the snowmen when complete and post for you to see or if you get to school, check them out in the hallway. We still have a few snow things to finish this week like making our snow globes so make sure you have your jar here. Venture Theater: I know they met on Friday for tryouts and rehearsals should start on Tuesday. Remember they are from 3:15-5:15. Report cards will be coming home on Thursday. They were very good and many of you made BUG or Terrific Kids Club. This is done by "bringing up grades or maintaining from quarter 1 and Terrific Kids is straight A's. Students will receive their awards in an assembly on Friday. Remember if you went to the PTA movie on Friday, write movie in the planner for free money. This week, we will finish our tour of the Midwest and our states & capitals test will be on Monday, January 21st. Have a great rest of the weekend and remember NO SCHOOL ON MONDAY FOR KIDS!!!

Happy Thursday!

Great day again in Room #6. These kids are such hard workers and so kind and caring to each other. They got a compliment from another classroom teacher today!! How cool is that!! VENTURE THEATER: Tomorrow are try-outs from 3:15-5:15 so make sure your child is here for it along with having their permission form filled out. Tomorrow is movie night sponsored by the PTA. I will give $200 fake money if you come and just write movie in the planner and I will pay them on Tuesday. Why Tuesday??? Students do not have school on Monday, January 14th. Online Safety Slips came home today. Mrs. Neese along with Agent Vierthaler are doing an hour presentation on on-line safety. SNOW-SNOW-SNOW!!! Yes, it is in the forecast and if we get the right kind of snow for making snowmen, we are going to go out for Team Building tomorrow and make snowmen. How fun is that. Speaking of snowmen, we started our stories today for Snowmen at Night and they are off to a pretty good start. Some pretty creative kids in here. Today in Social Studies, they performed their Home on the Range songs. It took a lot of courage to get in front of their peers and they all did awesome. Remember spelling test tomorrow. Also, keep bringing in the jars for snow globes. Math homework tonight: Review #14 Have a great night.

Meeting Day

This is going to be a quick blog as today is Wednesday Meeting Day. We had a great day today starting with our Cha Cha Slide activity and then our morning meeting. Our school safety message today was about the importance of remaining silent during a crisis drill. Ask your child why that is important and write their answer in the planner. In Reading today, we watched a video about the immense size of the universe. WOW-Amazes me and it is all so hard to understand what is "way out there"! I was surprised when the kids were doing their chapter 2 questions from yesterday's controversial reading that they really actually liked that section because they had to rate it on a scale from 1-5 and there were lots of 4's & 5's. There may be some homework in reading tonight as there is a lot to it and we are having good discussions. In Math, we learned about different polygons. Ask them how many sides a dodegon has and write the number in the planner. Our snow people are done and they are ADORABLE!!! Tomorrow morning, we will read the book: "Snowmen at Night" and then write stories about the adventure their snowman will have at night. Can't wait to see the creativity. In fact, start talking about a good setting & adventure for their snowman tonight. If you do this, write snowman in the planner. Remember to send in a small jar for our snow globes. PTA movie night is Friday, January 11th from 6-8. Come enjoy the movie "Brave". Have a great night.

Tuesday, January 8, 2013

Happy Tuesday!

Today was another busy day in Room 6. We started out our day with another one of our fun morning activities before watch Rusty and go to morning meeting. Ask your child which one of our activities is their favorite and have them do it for you and then write the name of it in the planner. We started out our morning meeting with Rusty talking about why we practice crisis drills and the fact that we need to take them seriously so we know what to do if a real emergency situation arises. Then in Social Studies, we practiced our Midwest states & capitals. They sure seem to be studying at home as they are doing quite well. I hope they are studying the location too. Then as a follow up to our section on the Dodge City, Kansas cattle drive there was a section to go with the song "Home on the Range". Students got in groups of 4 and wrote a new verse to the song. The upcoming performances for these will be on Thursday. Can't wait. Then in Reading, we continued with our Space unit. Chapter 2 was about the beliefs & stories of long ago explaining why we have constellations, high & low tides, and why earth is covered with water. So we had some explaining to do. Then one of the group's reading sections talks about Copernicus and the geocentric vs. heliocentric theories. Let's just say, it could get a little deep, but we aren't spending a lot of time discussing beliefs about this, but just doing the necessary skills and moving on. In Math, we practiced our long division by getting in groups of 4 and each person had to be a different member of the Royal Family and they did problems on the white board. Good way to practice and everyone was successful. We also started geometry and started with solid figures and everyone has that for homework tonight. In Science, we started our Snowmen people. We will finish them tomorrow and then read the book and write our own stories. SNOW GLOBES!!! Yes, we are going to be making snow globes here at school so your child will need a jar with a lid by next Tuesday. Make sure the jar is at least as big as a baby food jar, but no larger than a pint sized jar. Thank you. Venture Theater: Thanks to our wonderful PTA, Venture Theater is once again coming to Bitterroot. Students that are interested in it took a letter and a form home today for you to read, fill out, and sign. There is a change on the starting date though as it says January 14th and there is no school for students on that day. I am assuming it will start the next day on the 15th. I think Mrs. Zimmerman called there today so they will probably be giving us new notes to send home and I will get you the new date as soon as I know. Have a great night.

Fun-Busy Day!

We had another great day in Room 6. It started off with Rusty's show talking about school safety and reiterating what I always say about safety. He talked about how teachers are trained for emergency situations and will do what we need to do to keep our kids calm & safe and that we are in a leadership role. He also talked about the importance of them listening to & following instructions during a situation if one should arise. It was so nice to have him reassure the kids that they are the priority and we will do what we need to. Then we moved on to our Midwest tour. We visited 3 locations and I think St.Louis was their favorite. Ask them what rises 630 feet above the Mississippi River and write it in the planner. In Reading today with the students in here we created the 8 phases of the moon with Oreo Cookies. What a fun hands-on way to learn about the moon phases. Of course we had fun eating the extras too. Hopefully, your child has shown you theirs by the time you read this. They also have a comprehension packet to finish for Chapter 1 of Space. Chapter 17 Spelling words went home today. In Math, we learned long division and all about the Royal Family. Have them tell you about it and then do the problem 38 divided by 8 for you in the planner. Tomorrow in Science, we will make our Snowology People that are going to go with a book we are going to read and then write our own stories. Remember PE tomorrow so bring those tennis shoes. Have a great night.

Sunday, January 6, 2013

I hope you are enjoying your weekend. Mine was filled with getting together with friends from the past and volunteering in the community. As we talked about resolutions last week, I talked to the kids about doing things to help others & give back and that is the resolution I made for this year-to volunteer and help out at the hospital, nursing home, and the Rescue Mission. What a great way to give back and show kindness where needed. This week we are going to start long division & geometry in math. You will be hearing about the "Royal Family" to help us with long division. In Social Studies, we will start our tour of the Midwest. This section has a couple of fun stops with some fun activities. In Science, we will continue with Snowology activities. On Friday, we did a KWL and students came up with some great things they wanted to learn and then they used computers to research their findings to their questions. Ask them 2 new things they learned about snow and write snow in the planner. In Reading, we will continue with our whole group theme reader on space and also be getting into small groups again with our Lead 21 books in which their nonfiction articles will also be about space. Back to regular spelling list this week. Mr. English is gone now until around February 10th getting some military training. Isn't that awesome how he is working to protect our country. Mrs. Hardgrove will be here in the interim. She has been here many times before and knows many of our Bitterroot families. I feel very confident with here at the helm. Just a reminder that January 14th is a vacation day for students. It is a work day for us. I will be working on report cards and then they will be coming home with your child on January 17th. Have a great night.

Meeting After School

This is going to be quick blog as I have a meeting after school today. We started our Midwest Region today by making flash cards for them to practice here at school and tomorrow I will be sending home a location map for them to practice. Then we started our Geography Challenge for this region by using our map skills. If they can tell you 3 states & capitals so far, write Midwest in the planner. In Math today, students worked with a partner to review for our chapter 4 test tomorrow. If they didn't finish with their partner, it should be at home for homework. Have a great night.

Happy New Year!

I hope you all had a very restful break and spent lots of time making memories with family & friends. I enjoyed my family time, but it is great to be back here at school with my Bitterroot family & kids. I missed them and it was fun to see and get those hugs once again this morning. It is so hard to believe that the year is almost already 1/2 over. Where does the time go??!! With time rapidly moving along, this means we still have lots to do to be ready for 5th grade. Report cards will be coming home in a couple of weeks, so students need to continue to work hard and finish the quarter strong. Things to be looking for in our curriculum these next couple weeks are: Math-we will be doing our Geometry unit. Polygons, triangles, lines, angles, perimeter, area, volume, symmetry, etc. This is always a fun unit to teach and for kids to learn. We also will be jumping into long division real soon. In Reading, we are into our Lead 21 books and learning about Space, its' past, present, and looking into the future of space exploration. We will even touch a little bit on Mythology. Language will continue us along the path of learning parts of speech. Spelling will be a review unit this week so no new spelling list. Social Studies will be starting the Midwest region of the U.S. New states and capitals are listed on the side and a map will be coming home at the end of the week to start practicing. Montana History will take us into Lewis & Clark Exploration. Another one of my favorites. In Science, we are going to be teaming up with Ms. Erickson's class and doing some fun Snowology facts & activities which will incorporate reading, writing, math, and science. In Morning meeting today, the show was about resolutions. We talked about setting new goals and working hard to achieve them. Students each wrote down something positive they are going to work on this new year. Have a great night.
