I hope you are enjoying your weekend. Mine was filled with getting together with friends from the past and volunteering in the community. As we talked about resolutions last week, I talked to the kids about doing things to help others & give back and that is the resolution I made for this year-to volunteer and help out at the hospital, nursing home, and the Rescue Mission. What a great way to give back and show kindness where needed. This week we are going to start long division & geometry in math. You will be hearing about the "Royal Family" to help us with long division. In Social Studies, we will start our tour of the Midwest. This section has a couple of fun stops with some fun activities. In Science, we will continue with Snowology activities. On Friday, we did a KWL and students came up with some great things they wanted to learn and then they used computers to research their findings to their questions. Ask them 2 new things they learned about snow and write snow in the planner. In Reading, we will continue with our whole group theme reader on space and also be getting into small groups again with our Lead 21 books in which their nonfiction articles will also be about space. Back to regular spelling list this week. Mr. English is gone now until around February 10th getting some military training. Isn't that awesome how he is working to protect our country. Mrs. Hardgrove will be here in the interim. She has been here many times before and knows many of our Bitterroot families. I feel very confident with here at the helm. Just a reminder that January 14th is a vacation day for students. It is a work day for us. I will be working on report cards and then they will be coming home with your child on January 17th. Have a great night.
