Happy Sunday!

Hope you are having a great weekend. First of all, I want to CONGRATULATE all our Venture Theater participants. It was a fabulous performance and they did an amazing job! It is always difficult to perform in front of our peers, but they took a risk and put on quite a show. I hope you were able to catch the night performance. Congratulations to Victor Scott, our Purple Hand cookie recipient. Victor was nominated by his peers for his kindness & leadership skills. Way to go, Victor!! This week is going to be another busy week. Here is a run down of what is coming. Reading: We are beginning Unit 5 in Lead 21. It is a reinforcement for our Midwest social studies unit. Skills we will be working on are main idea/detail, cause/effect, and synonyms & antonyms. Strategies will include summarizing & visualizing. Math: We will test out of our geometry unit on Wednesday and then start fractions. Social Studies: Montana History-Yippee-finally!!!! Science: Forms of Energy Language: Continuing with pronouns and we are going to work on writing dialogue. Spelling: Unit 21 words and suffixes. Tomorrow is our "Bananas About Reading" kickoff assembly at 1:30. Packets will be coming home for this tomorrow. Biography packets came home on Friday. Hopefully by now you have gone through it and seen the requirements. If your child wants to do anything above what is required that would be AWESOME!! Also, they are encouraged to go on-line and find other information than what is in the book they are reading. Remember these are due on February 12th. See picture below for an example of mine. I know it is hard to see, but hopefully gives you an idea. Shopping day tomorrow with extra fake money after buying in to the Valentine's Day Party. Students haven't bought into the party yet will not be allowed to shop. Then on Tuesday, they will start over with a new wallet and money. For those that have not paid into the party yet, whatever money they have will go towards their party buy in. We will be making a list of committees for our party next week so that will give you plenty of time to prepare for whatever your committee your child chooses to be on. Our committees we have are: decorating, food, entertainment, and clean up. We will making bags for Valentine's Day. Actually, I have a fun little activity that goes with it and your child will receive that and a bag from me and then they will decorate it at home. More on this as it approaches. Have a good rest of the weekend.
