Check It Out

I would like to have you check out Rusty's School Tools site. There has been a lot of parent interest in wanting to carry on the conversations that we have in the mornings to their nightly communication with their child. How cool is that. So what you do is go to: www.schooltoolstv.com and click on the parenting page. It will give you the daily lessons of what we are or have talked about in our morning meetings. I would love for you to do that and stay connected. Today started out with Special Agent Dan from the FBI here talking about Internet Safety. WOW! It is a pretty scary world right here in Billings. He asked the kids who has Facebook, Twitter, etc. accounts and some hands went up and then he asked who is 13 years old? Obviously no hands went up. By law, you have to be 13 years old to have one of these accounts. After hearing about cases right here in Billings involving predators, cyber bullying, illegal (naked) pictures and chat rooms, it was quite an eye opener for me. He showed how dangerous it is to put pictures or videos on these sites and how easy they are to access by these predators. He also shared with the kids that they can find kids through X-Box chat rooms. So I am asking you please to delete any internet chat programs that your child has. He also asked kids to go to a site called www.NetSmartz.org. It has movies and games they can use to learn more. Please check it out with your child. If you do, write NetSmartz in the planner for free money. Ask them what they thought about the talk and also how old was the oldest person he has caught. If they can tell you, write the age in the planner. On a lighter note, today we had fun in Science. We did Snowology. Students had to go around the school and gather facts about snow and report back to the class. Ask them which they thought was the most amazing and write it in the planner. Remember Library books tomorrow. Have a great night.
