Happy New Year!

I hope you all had a very restful break and spent lots of time making memories with family & friends. I enjoyed my family time, but it is great to be back here at school with my Bitterroot family & kids. I missed them and it was fun to see and get those hugs once again this morning. It is so hard to believe that the year is almost already 1/2 over. Where does the time go??!! With time rapidly moving along, this means we still have lots to do to be ready for 5th grade. Report cards will be coming home in a couple of weeks, so students need to continue to work hard and finish the quarter strong. Things to be looking for in our curriculum these next couple weeks are: Math-we will be doing our Geometry unit. Polygons, triangles, lines, angles, perimeter, area, volume, symmetry, etc. This is always a fun unit to teach and for kids to learn. We also will be jumping into long division real soon. In Reading, we are into our Lead 21 books and learning about Space, its' past, present, and looking into the future of space exploration. We will even touch a little bit on Mythology. Language will continue us along the path of learning parts of speech. Spelling will be a review unit this week so no new spelling list. Social Studies will be starting the Midwest region of the U.S. New states and capitals are listed on the side and a map will be coming home at the end of the week to start practicing. Montana History will take us into Lewis & Clark Exploration. Another one of my favorites. In Science, we are going to be teaming up with Ms. Erickson's class and doing some fun Snowology facts & activities which will incorporate reading, writing, math, and science. In Morning meeting today, the show was about resolutions. We talked about setting new goals and working hard to achieve them. Students each wrote down something positive they are going to work on this new year. Have a great night.
