Planning Our Hawaiian Vacations!!

We are busy planning our Hawaiian vacations. Oh, if only they were for real. As we completed Chapter 12, which is on the west, and Hawaii is part of that region we decided to do a fun project. Students are working in groups of 3 planning a trip there for the whole class. They have to visit 4 islands in 4 days and they have different excursions they can plan. Some are free, some rather inexpensive, and others extravagant. They have $2000/day to spend for the whole class. They can spend a total of $8000 for all 4 days. They have some fun activities going. We are thinking of having a Hawaiian party next week to celebrate, share, and choose which groups we like the best.
Today we started measurement in Math. This is a concept that is rather hard for some students. If you possibly can, have your child measure some objects at home to the nearest inch, 1/2, 1/4 & 1/8. This will help make learning it a bit easier. For free money, measure 3 things at home and write them in the planner with their lengths.
For the reading kids in the regular classroom, have a conversation about Charlotte getting "revenge" or "justice" on Mr. Milshark. We are loving this book.
Just a reminder we have our Math NWEA test on Thursday so make every effort to be here.
Have a great night.
