Welcome Back!!!!!

Welcome to Team Hankins!!!  I am looking forward to working with each of you and your child this year.  We are going to work hard, build relationships, and have FUN along the way!!!!!
This blog will serve as a weekly communication tool.  I will post on Fridays the happenings for the upcoming week as well as fun things & pics from the previous week.  On Wednesday the post will be a an update of any new happenings or events.  Please read it bi-weekly to "stay in the loop".  I don't send home a paper newsletter.  Also, there will be a hidden question each time I blog where you are to put the answer to it in the assignment notebook and your child will receive $20.  This is a fun way to share the school happenings so you don't hear the same old answer when you ask, "What did you do in school today"?  I won't have one tonight though as your child has not received their assignment notebook as of yet.  We are starting them on Monday.  If you have not purchased one yet, please do so for $5.00. Thank you.
I sent home my welcoming newsletter today.  Please read it carefully and let me know if you have any questions.  Also, I have a "getting to know your child & family in there that I would like completed by Tuesday, September 1st.  Thank you.
We had our first fire drill today and the students did awesome.  They will tell you about the new system I am sure.
We had a great first week and we are busily working on a project that you will see up in the hallway at Open House on September 15th.
Tonight (Friday) is PTA movie night.  If your child attends, please send a note saying they went and they will get free money.  I love supporting our amazing PTA.
Also, the fundraiser packets went home with them today unless your family chose to opt out.  Any questions, please ask one of the members.
Happenings next week: Reading- Lead 21 Placement test
Math-Yay-we are starting the new "Go Math" series.  Starts off with a real world space lesson engaging students in math thinking & problem solving.  Our first chapter lessons are on place value.
